Travel eSIM

An eSIM (embedded SIM) is a digital SIM that allows you to activate a mobile data plan without needing a physical SIM card. It's built into most modern smartphones (iPhone XS and newer, many Android devices). Perfect for travelers who want instant connectivity without swapping SIM cards or dealing with roaming charges.

Before traveling: Purchase your eSIM and scan the QR code while connected to WiFi. This installs the eSIM profile on your device.

When you arrive: Go to your device settings, find the eSIM, and turn on data roaming. Your connection will activate automatically.

Tip: Install before you leave home so everything is ready when you land!

Most recent smartphones support eSIM, including:

iPhone: XS, XR, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 and newer (including all Pro/Max versions)
Samsung: Galaxy S20 and newer, Galaxy Z Fold/Flip series
Google: Pixel 3 and newer
Other: Many Huawei, Xiaomi, and other Android devices

Your device must also be carrier-unlocked to use an eSIM from another provider.

Yes! Your travel eSIM works alongside your existing SIM card. You'll have two lines on your phone - your regular number for calls/texts (you can disable data on this to avoid roaming) and your eSIM for affordable mobile data. You can receive calls and texts on your regular number while using eSIM data.

You can purchase a top-up or a new eSIM package at any time through the TripPortier app or website. We also send notifications when your data is running low so you're never caught off guard.
